Assembler

We are currently seeking a skilled Assembler to join our growing team. This position involves the assembly of mechanical components into finished products by using a variety of hand tools and equipment according to the required specifications and standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Assembly Schedule/Work Order/Pick List/Blueprints:
    • Monitor assembly schedule and keep track of rush orders and missing parts.
    • Read and follow work order specifications.
    • Receive and check all the parts against the pick lists for quantity, quality and size.
    • Inspect and double check the parts you receive from other departments.
    • Check the identification of the final product against the work order.
    • Read and follow basic engineering drawings and blueprints to accurately assemble components into finished products.
  • Drum Motor Assembly & Testing:
    • Position, align, fasten and install mechanical and electrical components to form assemblies or subassemblies.
    • Identify and complete the assemblies using provided work instructions and specified tools.
    • Verify specific electrical characteristics of potted shafts and stators using provided measurement tools.
    • Fill the drum motor with the right type of oil as specified in the work order.
    • Complete the assembly of the entire drum motor including alignment and closing.
    • Torque fasteners to required specification.
    • Complete the pressure tests.
    • Perform final quality control procedures and make any necessary adjustments.
    • Deliver the assembled motor to Shipping area.
    • Communicate with Pre-assembly regularly.
    • Responsible for their own assembled units.
    • Assist other assemblers, lead hand or supervisors as needed.
    • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Inform the lead hand/supervisor of any inconsistency with work orders or defective parts.
    • Inform the supervisor if any technical problems arise.
    • Clean workbench at the end of shift.
  • Health and Safety Compliance:
    • Perform duties in a safe manner, maintain a neat and safe workstation and always comply with health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Other
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2-4 years’ experience assembling mechanical components
  • Mechanically inclined team player
  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • Basic electrical knowledge and understanding
  • Prior knowledge of assembly of gear or power transmission and 3 phase electric motors
  • Must be able to lift/position heavy motor components (5-50 lbs) with the assistance of crane.
  • Good communication skills, ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Manual dexterity to put part together accurately
  • Experience assembling and repairing gearboxes is an asset
