Service Technician

The position requires a customer service focused individual to deliver technical support to customers, perform all required repair & maintenance tasks, as well as help maintain the shop. You will develop both your customer service and technical skills as well as facilities maintenance in a supportive, collaborative environment. Main responsibilities include the assembly and repair of mechanical components into finished products by using a variety of tools and equipment according to the required specifications and standards. Due to the nature of this satellite facility this role will include responsibilities such as shipping/receiving, inventory management, and basic facility maintenance.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Repair and Service:
    • Perform disassembly, troubleshooting, repair, and assembly of drum motors and drum motor components
    • Troubleshoot and inspect components and equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
    • Diagnose faults and malfunctions using a variety of mechanical and electrical testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
    • Create and enter diagnostic reports of motor failures and repair requirements in ERP system (EPICOR)
    • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications
    • Use available tools and devices to position, align, and adjust motor components for accurate fit and assembly.
    • Provide technical support to customers
    • Pick up and drop off motors from customer location
    • Communicate professionally with customers to address inquiries and concerns
  • Shipping and Receiving:
    • Load and unload trucks
    • Scan and file shipping documentation
    • Outbound shipping BOL’s and Saving job travelers
    • Provide shipping specifications to the shipping department
    • Assemble pallets and boxes
    • Prepare products for safe transportation
  • Stockroom/Inventory Control:
    • Print work order documentation
    • Use MRP system to allocate required materials
    • Verify incoming inventory, log in MRP system, and sign-off
    • Communicate and help resolve stock level issues
  • Facility Maintenance:
    • Report any deficiencies regarding facility systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, IT, and vehicles
    • Perform basic repairs and trouble shooting
    • Main point of contact for outside service needs
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure compliance with quality standards, industry standards, and safety protocols in all service activities related to drum motors
    • Verifying and reporting manufacturing defects
  • Health and Safety Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all operational activities.
    • Reporting any safety related incidents
    • Reporting any safety equipment deficiencies
  • Other:
    • Travel between sites as required
    • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Completion of high school, Some Post-Secondary College/vocational or technical training in electrical, mechanical or related field
  • 2 – 4 years’ experience assembling mechanical components and subassemblies
  • 5+ years’ experience in leadership role or role in which work is self-directed
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Computer literacy, specifically in MSWord/Excel/Outlook
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings and technical specifications
  • Previous repair experience with electric motors size range 0.5 to 50 horsepower
  • Prior experience with assembly and repair of gearboxes or 3 phase electric motors is an asset
  • Comfortable with use of hand tools, power tools, overhead hoists and hydraulic presses
  • Weight handling up to 15 - 45lbs frequently
  • Forklift Certification an asset – training provided
