All drive components, including the motor, gear reducer, and bearings, are enclosed and protected inside the drum, eliminating the safety hazards of traditional external motor and gearbox style conveyor drives, increasing workforce safety. The electric motor is in-line to the gear reducer and operates at 96% mechanical efficiency, reducing energy consumption and operating costs. The gears are manufactured using high quality alloy steel, reducing noise to minimal decibel levels. The compact and quiet VDG Drum Motor is well suited for open and public spaces. Standard Series Drum Motors are available from 4-inch to 12.5-inch diameter 0.11 HP to 15 HP, with a wide range of belt speeds and lagging to suit various belt conveyor applications. The optional VDG patented IronGrip™ lagging increases traction and improves tracking, extending the life of the belt. VDG also offers the IntelliDrive™ featuring permanent magnet (PM) drum motor technology, delivering 40% increased electrical efficiency.
